*Outdoor classes are held at Coal Creek Farms in the Fall and Spring Sessions that begin in September and March.  Winter & Summer classes (beginning in January and June) meet at Fellowship Lutheran Church at 71 & Sheridan.

In 2020, the world had to get creative and our Music Together^® classes moved outside!  At first, it was a necessity, but as I observed children and families in class every week, I realized that there was something special happening.  Children were more focused in class.  There was less wandering and more music making.  And parents noticed it, too!  I've had many parents share with me how relaxing it is to be outside, and how their child is more engaged during class.  So I did a little research, and science confirmed our observations. 

There are many *incredible* benefits to outdoor learning and play:

• Outdoor learning provides more opportunity to practice fine and gross motor skills - walking through the grass, picking flowers - the outdoors give children the space they need to run, jump, spin, crawl, swing, and dance!
• More vitamin D!
• Children develop stronger self-awareness and increased confidence in a safe space where they can explore and make choices
• Nature engages all of our senses
• Open spaces prevent overwhelm from loud sounds and increased social contact, helping a shy or younger child from being intimidated.  This, paired with caregiver trust increases openness, expression, and creative communication!
• Interacting in the changing outdoor environment gives us new things to observe and sing about!  What's more beautiful than singing to the nature surrounding us?

• The outdoors benefit adults, too!  Research shows that spending time outside improves attention, lowers stress, and even increases empathy and cooperation

Since 2022, we have been meeting in a beautiful new outdoor space.  Classes are held at Coal Creek Farm - a safe, secluded natural space with fresh mown grass and acres of shade.  Through the seasons, we see wildflowers, autumn leaves, and catch a glimpse of all the wildlife Oklahoma has to offer.  Come make music with us in this incredible space!
